Implant Dentures

Upgrade to implant dentures for unmatched stability.

Whilst most patients are happy with traditional dentures, some prefer the improved stability and strength achieved through implant retained dentures.

An implant-supported denture is a denture attached to dental implants, providing greater stability. They are well suited for patients missing either all upper teeth or all lower teeth.

At South Coast Denture Clinic, we specialize in implant-supported dentures, combining the durability of implants with the comfort and aesthetics of custom dentures.

Implant Dentures FAQ

Whilst most patients are happy with traditional dentures, some prefer the improved stability and strength achieved through implant retained dentures.

An implant-supported denture is a denture attached to dental implants, providing greater stability than conventional dentures. They are well suited for patients missing either all upper teeth or all lower teeth.

Implant dentures first require dental implants to be placed. Once placed, the denture sits on top of the gum, similar to traditional dentures.

However, the denture attaches to the implants and is secured firmly in the jawbone via an abutment.

For the upper jaw, having an implant retained denture allows the palate to be exposed, giving a more natural feel that can return flavours and sensations that an individual may not get with a full palate.

An implant-retained denture in the lower jaw is recommended as it dramatically improves the stability and function of the denture for an individual, preventing excess movement that is generally seen with a conventional full lower denture.
